Chris Riggs collab

August meant two things for my artwork; Notting Hill Carnival and Chris Riggs. I first met Chris at the ‘Icon’ Art House Project exhibition back in June where I exhibited my Ian Duncan Smith painting. Chris created a beautfiul ‘love’ wall outside the venue and afterwards we said it would be cool to do a colab sometime.

Ladbroke Grove by Jelly J Artist and Chris Riggs

Chris returned to London for one week in August and we did a mammoth three murals in that time! One at the magical Nomadic Gardens in Brick Lane, and two Grenfell tribute murals, a matter close to my heart. One was next to Ladbroke Grove Station and another in the heart of Notting Hill at the award winning Acklam Village.

A real challenge and rather broken as these also included my biggest murals yet, and I soon found myself going up and down a 25ft ladder for a day – complete with bruises! We met some fantastic people in the area who came to chat to us as we painted and it was also clear that people are understandably traumatised and angry at the injustice of Grenfell.

lt was great to work with Chris. His love walls and my Jelly ladies work well together. Hopefully we will get to do some colabs the other side of the pond sometime too!
