Reducing disabled people to ‘inspirational’ is ‘othering’. Not the same as ‘us’ ‘different’. It portays disability as a burden, as opposed to societal obstacles which are the real burden to disabled people. When you ‘other’ a group of people, human rights are not seen as necessary for that group.
Othering dehumanises people.
