Elizabeth O’Connell was the defence lawyer of a man in Ireland accused of raping a 17 year old girl.
She told the jury: “You have to look at the way she was dressed. She was wearing a thong with a lace front.” The man was acquitted of rape shortly afterwards.

It’s a little bit *yawn* to once again repeat “Clothes don’t cause rape, Rapists do.” but ffs we must carry on saying it as long as victim blaming exists.
